These guys were flocking in a tree a couple doors down from our cottage.

The silver gull was quite tame as I am sure it was expecting a handout. This gave me the opportunity to get up close and personal with my 300/f2.8IS lens. Once I got home I was able to see the incredible detail in the eye and feathers. As I didn’t take a laptop with us on the trip, I was unable to fully critique any of the photos in detail until I got home. A very interesting excercise as I had to really trust my instincts and rely on all of the practice sessions over the years with regards to composition, exposure, focus, etc.
